Centro de la Imagen

We are the depository of a significant part of the history of contemporary Mexican and Latin American photography. Created by the Consejo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (The National Council for Culture and Arts) in 1994, the Centro de la Imagen is a space dedicated to investigation, formation, analysis and dissemination of both photography and image, among diverse publics. The CI has spread out its activity based in an interdisciplinary model which includes: editorial, education, research and a field related to�activities in museums, it also includes two special projects: the Photography Biennial and the Mexico Photo Festival, and also a monographic publication: the book- magazine Luna Cornea.The centre is under the direction of Itala Schmelz.
