I find inspiration in colours, abstracts and geometric forms, whether in rural landscapes, cityscapes or just everyday objects. Sometimes it is the brightness of the colours that catches my eye, other times it is the calming effect of the muted colours that makes me capture an image. My style has definitely changed over the last year or so, after I started formal studies on the subject of photography and art. Some of my work could be described as minimalistic although I usually fill the frame with various layers and details. Although mostly representational, there is space in my work for interpretations of the subjects, objects and meaning as well. Each of my photographs portrays a feeling I had when I took the picture and I hope that the feeling I was trying to capture with the colours on a particular image will translate and transfer to anyone looking at my photographs.

About
Noru Innes is a creative photographer based in the West Highlands of Scotland. Having been taking photographs for many years, also professionally for her own businesses, in 2021, Noru decided to broaden her knowledge on photography and get a formal education on the subject through the University of Highlands and Islands in Scotland. Having mostly concentrated on corporate photography in the past, Noru’s formal training has opened up her mind to different types of photography, such as abstract art and portraiture, and introduced her to new inspiring artists and styles. Her work has been exhibited at the Glasgow Gallery of Photography and selected for the yearly publication of the book ‘Out of Frame 22/23’.
