This collection takes Dutch Old Masters as a starting point and then moves our perception of these works to the modern day. More specifically, the series focuses on various still-life subjects, such as food, flowers and fruit. The subject matter is much the same as in the painting of the Old Masters, but the use of modern photographic methods and lighting enables the subjects to be represented in a distinct but subtly different way. Combining the old with the new is something I feel is a very satisfying way of showing my art, in the knowledge that viewers will find the works interesting, both on a technical and artistic front, but also decorative and easy to look at and live with.
