Prix Pictet, the world’s leading photography prize, exhibits ‘Hope’ as part of Art Monte-Carlo art fair Monaco. Art Monte Carlo is delighted to welcome the Prix Pictet, the world’s top photography prize for sustainability, from 14 July.

Having previously exhibited around the world including Tel Aviv, Verona, and Lausanne, the eighth cycle of the award Hope, comes to Monaco. Prix Pictet will run through Art Monte- Carlo in the Espace le Génois, it will then remain open beyond the art fair until 27 July

The twelve shortlisted photographers in the exhibition explore the positive ways in which humanity is responding to critical environmental and social crises of our time. It is a welcome inspiration for all of us in a time of uncertainty.

The winner of the eighth Prix Pictet was the Ivorian photographer, Joana Choumali. She was presented with the award on 13th November 2019 at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum for her series Ça va aller (it will be ok). The photographs for her winning series were taken three weeks after the terrorist attacks in Grand Bassam, Côte d’Ivoire, on Sunday 13th March, 2016.

She was selected by an independent jury, chaired by Sir David King, who described her work as “a brilliantly original meditation on the ability of the human spirit to wrest hope and resilience from even the most traumatic events”.

After the first showing, this exhibition of shortlisted photographers has gone on to be seen in Tokyo, Zurich, Moscow, Lausanne, Verona, and Tel Aviv. It will continue its world tour with exhibitions in Milan, Shanghai, Beijing and Dublin among others locations.
