The Tbilisi Photo Festival is delighted to announce its return with its highlight - Tbilisi Night of Photography!

Despite the Covid-19 pandemic and the current context of uncertainty, the team sees the necessity to come back for its 11th edition - in an adapted and reduced format. The Tbilisi Night of Photography will take place on September 12th, 20.00-00.00 in Stamba Hotel, a former Soviet printing house converted into a design hotel. Since its inauguration, Stamba has become a cultural hub of the Georgian capital. For the occasion, screens showcasing the work of photographers from all over the world will be set in yet undiscovered venues of this design hotel.

The Tbilisi Night of Photography was launched in 2010 and conceived as a Georgian version of “La Nuit de l’Année” organized by Les Rencontres d’Arles. Drawing crowds of up to 5,000 every year, this event has grown to become the central event of the Tbilisi Photo Festival.

Featuring some of the best images from across the globe on open air screens, the Tbilisi Night of Photography is offering an eclectic selection of photographers associated with reputed photo agencies and the specialist media (Magnum Photo, MYOP Agency, LensCulture, GUP… ) as well as international photo festivals and prizes such as the Odessa Photo Days (Ukraine), Angkor Photo Festival (Cambodia), Verscaza Photo Festival (Switzerland), CAP Prize, Circulation[s] Photo Festival (France) or Chobi Mela : Bangladesh Photo Festival.

Night of Photography also acts as a platform to promote the dynamic South Caucasian photographic scene and its emerging talents who take part in the residency, masterclasses and mentorships programs offered by the Tbilisi Photography and Multimedia Museum.

Each year, screenings are set up in Tbilisi’s most emblematic spaces, from the streets of its Old neighborhood to Mushtaidi Park, one of the city’s oldest parks created in the beginning of 19th century by an Iranian aristocrat for his Georgian wife. The highlight of the Tbilisi Photo Festival, the Night of Photography, is now a staple of the cultural and artistic life of the Georgian capital.
