The region of Trás-os-Montes is located in the northern interior of Portugal, bordering north and east with Spain. In this Marvelous Kingdom, as writer Miguel Torga called it, one finds a landscape of wild beauty. I've been touring the region during the winter. Here, I've come across the morning fogs, the rivers, the birds and the trees.

Paulo Monteiro was born in June 1963, in São Miguel Island, Azores, where he currently lives and works. He has been a photographer since 1985. He has developed long-term projects on various subjects, such as popular religiosity, profane festivities, architecture, landscape, nature, and the workplace environment.
