The afterimage is an optical illusion where an image persists visually after its source is gone. This phenomenon, often brief but sometimes lasting, served as an inspiration when we moved from St. Petersburg to Yerevan and then to San Francisco. Through photography, we explored the overlapping memories of these cities, capturing the blend of past and present experiences.

"Afterimage" series transcends mere visual documentation, acting as a metaphorical x-ray that traces emotional and mental shifts during our transition. Utilizing pinhole photography, we captured the essence of memory formation, where the clear becomes obscured and the unseen emerges. This technique accentuates the ephemeral nature of memories, with image imperfections symbolizing the distortions of recollection.
